Turner & Scratch, a.k.a. Nick McArdell
Turner and Scratch is a local pottery begun in 2003 by artist Nick McArdell, that creates unusual one-of-a-kind works. Pieces are inspired by a wide range of sources, including Arts and Crafts potters, Martin Brothers Pottery and Japanese art and tattoo designs. Nick takes vases thrown to his specifications by a local potter, and meticulously hand carves and scratches the designs into the surface of each vessel. Glazes are hand applied and fired. Based in Minnessota.
