Otagiri Mercantile Company, a.k.a. Otagiri Manufacturing Company, OMC
Production years: circa ? - 1994
Otagiri Manufacturing Company, more commonly called OMC, was based out of San Francisco, and may have had locations in Los Angeles and Dallas. Products by Otagiri were manufactured in Japan. Around the 1960s, a very similar company called Jard Products arose that had the same designs and even nearly identical stickers. In the mid-1990s, Otagiri was sold to Enesco Corporation, a division of Stanhome. Otagiri stopped producing Polynesian items many years ago, and Enesco, which now owns the rights to the designs, has not opted to start producing them again.
