The first mug version of this design was made by Johnny Sens for hobbyists in the 1960s. This design can also be seen on S&P shakers (pg 118 Tiki Quest) and on lanterns (pg 160 Tiki Quest). This version was made for a private luau party given by Gogo & Dani in June 2008 and was based on the vintage tiki lantern.
